India gained it's independence on August 15th, which is when the topic of castes became prevalent in the country.

Reservation

The reservation policy stems off of the caste system that the British implemented in the colony ages.

Other Backward Castes in Society

Currently, about 52 percent of the population, thus almost 600 million people are part of the Other Backward Castes.

Students Against the Policy

There have been many amendments to the Constitution of India that have helped the lower castes of India. This has caused many uproars in the community.
